Something I thought I'd post up quickly which caused me a little trouble just now…
I tried to upgrade my Netgear DG834PN (an ADSL WiFi router, EXCELLENT piece of kit incidentally) from the stock 1.3.30 firmware to the latest (as of writing) 1.3.39. There was no particular reason for the upgrade - I'm just a "bleeding edge" kinda guy!
Its been a while since a I posted and mostly thats because I've been moving home and without internet... So whats new? Well I bought myself a Nintendo Wii on Sunday as I've been toying with the idea for a while. My initial thoughts on it are: IT'S SO MUCH FUN!
The only downside I have found so far is that it wont play DVD Films... It has a DVD drive - but they just haven't made it play films... Why? I have no idea!
Last night (well, technically this morning) I followed the advice in Nova T Stick Review where Tim de Ville left a comment hinting towards a piece of software called EyeTV for the Mac which would allow me to use my Digital Freeview USB Dongle under OSX.
All I can say is WOW!
Christmas is over and, as usual, I think of a really good present to ask for too late… But I don't mind if I give myself a late present ;-)
I used to use an old WinTV Theatre PCI Card but I watched so little telly that I decided to remove it and use the space for making the computer lighter. My new toy is USB (2.0). It means I can also use it on my Mac Book Pro (once I get it back from Apple - they're still repairing my broken hard disk!).
A sad day for me… My prized Mac Book Pro just died only 6 weeks after arriving. I powered it up the day after boxing day to hear the lovely noise a Mac makes when you power it up… Followed by a rather unusual noise… A noise I've heard before… A noise that brought back memories of data loss… anger… and regret that I hadn't backed up…
Well I got my new keyboard and mouse to replace the very poor Bluetooth MX5000 Laser combo I had before and I'm pleased to say that the first 30 minutes of using it have been an absolute pleasure!
