Nova-t stick

I have a stick and with an old crappy one for all aeriel it picks up bout 10 stations from my desk... i intend to get a new aeriel tomorrow BUT at the moment the programs are very blocky, like the audio keeps cutting out every less than a second, and the pictures keep freezing

Is this because the aeriel wasnt designed for digital or a signal problem or a graphics problem?
